Nigerian Senator, Ezea passes on in UK hospital, Senate mourns

The senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Okey Ezea, has died in the United Kingdom .

It was gathered that the senator elected on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) passed on in a UK hospital over protracted illness while receiving medical treatment.

Ezea became the second serving senator from the South-East to die within two years, following the demise of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra State, who also passed away in London in July 2024 at the age of 52.

Ezea was the only LP member from Enugu State in the 10th National Assembly.

The Senate, which has been thrown into a mourning state, is expected to formally announce the lawmaker’s demise at plenary, with a minute of silence likely to be observed in his honour in accordance with the legislative tradition.
