Senate okays Doro as Minister

Rufus Okoro
The Senate has graciously confirmed the appointment of Dr Bernard Doro as Nigeria’s minister.

The confirmation on October 30, 2025, followed Doro’s screening by the Senate Committee of the Whole.

Doro, who hails from Plateau, was nominated to replace Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda who is now the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

While responding to questions from senators, Doro promised to prioritize transparency and efficiency in humanitarian service delivery.

“I will create a humanitarian ecosystem that is efficient, that is transparent and that is centred on the person that is being cared for,” he said.

He also pledged to strengthen collaboration among government agencies to eliminate duplication and improve outcomes.

“I will create synergy amongst the different agencies of government and ensure that we are able to reduce duplication and achieve results. I believe that technology can help us to be able to achieve that,” Doro added.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, thereafter, put the nomination to a voice vote, and it was unanimously approved by the lawmakers of the Red Chamber.

Doro reportedly holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.
