Enugu House members defect to APC

Ken Akpan
All members of the Nigeria's Federal House of Representatives members from Enugu State have formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, read the lawmakers’ letters of resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) during plenary in Abuja on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

The plenary was attended by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, who was reportedly present to cheer up the decampees.

The defectors said they decided to dump their former parties due to what they described as unresolved internal crises threatening the stability of the opposition parties.

After the 2023 general elections, the LP won seven of the eight House of Representatives seats in Enugu State, while the PDP secured one.

With the latest development, the APC now controls the entire Enugu caucus in the Federal House.
