Black Thursday

Rostrum The ancient narrow pathway had become so bad that they could not find their way to their destination as the three moved in a grey Honda Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) being piloted by Dayo who was very mindful of the steering. It was on a Thursday. The 35-year-old Misters Dayo, Emeka and Okon were old time friends who reunited just a few days ago at Nsukka in Enugu State having lost contacts about eight years back, or thereabouts, after their graduation from one of the reputable higher citadels of learning in Nigeria situated in the Eastern part of the country, precisely University of Nigeria Nsukka popularly known by its acronym ‘U.N.N’. Dangote Refinery to increase Production Capacity to 1.4m bpd

RostrumNews
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced its plan to increase production output from 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1.4 million bpd.

The President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, disclosed this at a press conference in Lagos State on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Dangote said the expansion, when completed, would make the facility the largest refinery in the world, surpassing the Jamnagar Refinery in India.

“We are more than doubling the barrels to 1.4 million from 650,000. The oil magnate said.

“This will make it the largest refinery in the world, surpassing India’s Jamnagar Refinery.

“This expansion is about confidence in Nigeria, in Africa, and in our capacity to shape our own energy future.”

He stated that the move reflects confidence in Nigeria’s future and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of making the country a global supplier of refined petroleum products.

Dangote, therefore, commended the federal government for its support and for implementing policies that have spurred industrial growth, including Nigeria’s First Policy, Naira-for-Crude Policy, and One-Stop Shop Initiative.

According to him, these policies have revolutionized the downstream sector and encouraged private investment in local refining.
