Meet Nigeria’s Nationalist, Obafemi Awolowo

Rufus Okoro Chief Obafemi Awolowo (1909 – 1987) was a Nigerian nationalist, lawyer, statesman, and one of the country’s most influential political leaders. Born Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo on March 6, 1909, in Ikenné, present-day Ogun State, Nigeria. He studied law at the University of London and qualified as a barrister. Awolowo founded the Action Group (AG) political party in 1951. He served as the Premier of the Western Region from 1954 to 1960, later emerged the Leader of the Opposition in Nigeria’s federal parliament. FUTO announces 2025/2026 Admission for JUPEB, Degree Programmes

The Management of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria has advertised the commencement of sale of forms for admission into the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The programme is being coordinated under the aegis of the University's Centre of Continuing Education (CCE).

In a public notice electronically signed by the FUTO Registrar, Chiedozie Uba, prospective students were advised to visit the University website, www.futo.edu.ng click here to digitally obtain the form as well as apply for the programme.

According to the press release, the special programme, which reportedly lasts for one year, grants the candidates access to acquire the JUPEB Certificate upon completion.

The obtained certificate would enable them to gain Direct Entry Admission into any JUPEB-affiliated university in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.

The notice further notified that lectures would commence on 22nd September, 2025.

A phone call put across by the RostrumNews to the Director of the FUTO CCE, Professor Benedict Ozurumba, disclosed that the JUPEB programme does not encounter any form of hitch in the course of studies, because it’s not affected by any industrial action, or related matters.
