Super Falcons beat Morocco to lift 10th WAFCON Trophy

Rufus Okoro The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated the host nation, Morocco with a 3-2 aggregate in the final match of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) played on Saturday, 26th July 2025, making them lift the tournament's golden trophy for the 10th time. The Nigeria's female stars staged an extraordinary second-half comeback to record the victory. In front of home fans, Morocco got off to a dream start at the Stade Olympique in Rabat on the Saturday night. With just 12 minutes on the clock, captain Ghizlane Chebbak opened the scoring with a brilliant strike from outside the box, curling the ball low past Nigerian goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie. After 20 yrs in Coma, Saudi 'Sleeping Prince' passes on

The Saudi Arabia's royal Prince, Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, who has been in coma for two decades now, eventually died on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

The thirty-five-year Talal reportedly went into coma following a ghastly motor accident in London, the United Kingdom (UK) in 2005.

“The Global Imams Council extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the esteemed Royal Family, on the passing of Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, who passed away after a long struggle that lasted nearly twenty years following a tragic accident.” The Council of Global Imams stated.

His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, said: “With hearts full of faith in Allah’s decree and destiny, and with profound sadness and sorrow, we mourn our beloved son, Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. May Allah have mercy on him, who passed away to Allah’s mercy today.”

Talal was barely 15 when the accident occurred while he was studying at a military college in the UK.

He suffered critical brain injuries and internal bleeding, leaving him in a complete coma.

He was later taken to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he was kept on life support under constant medical care for almost 20 years.

The late Prince was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud and a nephew of billionaire business tycoon, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.
