Tinubu pledges quick Rescue of kidnapped Schoolgirls in Kebbi

Nigeria's President, Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President, Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 to commiserate with the state government and the families of the schoolgirls abducted by bandits in Maga community.

It could be recalled that about 25 schoolgirls were reportedly kidnapped from a secondary school situated in Maga community, Kebbi State in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, in which one of the school teachers was killed during a gun battle.

The public was later notified that one of the abducted girls escaped from the kidnappers while the rest were still in their custody.

The Vice-President is also expected to assure parents and guardians that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring swift release of their children.

Tinubu decried the disruption of the girls’ education, describing the attackers as “heartless terrorists,” and ordered security agencies to move swiftly to rescue the abducted students.

The President expressed deep sadness over the abduction, noting it occurred despite intelligence warnings about a possible attack.

He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts taken to prevent the kidnapping and urged communities in security-prone areas to cooperate with security agencies by sharing timely information.

Tinubu also condoled with the Nigerian military following the reported deaths of Brigadier General Musa Uba and several other soldiers, who were killed while combating insurgents in Borno State.

“As Commander-in-Chief, I am depressed by the tragic loss of our officers and soldiers on active duty.

“May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our other fallen heroes,” he said.

Tinubu, however, emphasized that security agencies cannot succeed without the cooperation of citizens and local communities, urging Nigerians to provide intelligence information that can aid operations in vulnerable areas.
