Tinubu confers National Honours on Super Falcons, pledges $100,000 to Players

In honour of the Super Falcons' victory in Morocco in the just concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, has graciously conferred national honours on all members of the female football squad.

The epochal event took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025, upon arrival of the team from Morocco.

The president also pledged $100,000 in naira to each of the 24 players and an additional $50,000 to the eleven members of the technical crew.

The President also awarded a three-bedroom apartment to each of the players as well as members of the technical crew.

"I have received this trophy on behalf of all Nigerians, and I say to you: thank you for the dedication, passion, and for reminding us of the strength of the Nigerian spirit." President Tinubu stated.

"On behalf of a grateful nation, I hereby confer on the players and the 11-man technical team the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

"Once again, I congratulate you, and I’ll continue to pray for you. With this, Nigeria’s spirit is unyielding and will never die.” He landed.
